Ponieważ dość ambitnie (czytaj “mało rozsądnie”) postanowiliśmy jednego dnia zaliczyć Wyspę Skye, poszukać potwora z Loch Ness i dojechać o ludzkiej porze do Inverness, nasze dodatkowe postoje mocno nadszarpnęły stabilność misternego planu. Spowodowało to, że do rzekomej siedziby tej tajemniczej kryptydy dojechaliśmy straszliwie późno i jeśli Nessi gdzieś w okolicy była, to się na bank zmyła, a my straciliśmy okazję obcowania z koronną atrakcją Szkocji. Szczerze? Nie żałuję. Jeśli jednak ktoś bardzo by chciał ją wypatrzeć, to można próbować np. z tego oto obiektu, czyli XIII- wiecznego Urquhart Castle, położonego pi razy oko 30 km od Inverness.
Zamek owszem, ładnie położony, ale nas zdecydowanie bardziej zachwycił Eilean Donan, na który natrafiliśmy wcześniej (wstyd przyznać – przez przypadek). Mimo iż zdobi on okładki większości przewodników i znajduje się na prawie każdej turystycznej liście must see, my z tego rozgorączkowania prawie go pominęliśmy. I byśmy sobie pluli w brodę przez następną dekadę, albowiem jest on totalnie pocztówkowy. Położony na wyspie Loch Duich, niedaleko miejscowości Dornie, ze stałym lądem połączony został kamiennym mostem. Miejsce to jest na tyle urokliwe, że posłużyło jako plener filmowy m.in. do “Nieśmiertelnego” czy “Świat to za mało”. Zresztą, oceńcie sami, czyż nie wspaniały?
I chociaż moglibyśmy do końca życia zachwycać się takimi widokami, czas naglił, dlatego, chcąc nie chcąc, pojechaliśmy prosto do Inverness, nie zatrzymując się tym razem po drodze ani na sekundę (yeah, bhawo my, jakieś 30 kim pejzażowej wstrzemięźliwości). Nocowaliśmy w pensjonacie u sympatycznej Pani, która się nawet w naszym imieniu kłóciła z wypożyczalnią samochodów. Pozdrawiamy serdecznie (także przytulaśnego, typowo brytyjskiego psa kanapowego, który spał nam pod drzwiami). Miasteczko dość ok, średnio piękne (i nawet zrekonstruowany zamek szekspirowskiego Makbeta nie dodaje wielu punktów do fantastyczności). Ponieważ był to nasz ostatni dzień wypadu (stamtąd pociągiem wróciliśmy na lotnisko w Glasgow), nie narzuciliśmy sobie wyjątkowo zabójczego tempa. Pochodziliśmy więc wzdłuż rzeki, wspięliśmy na Zamek, pokupowaliśmy zaległe pamiątki, posiedzieliśmy w parku. I natknęliśmy się kilka razy na rodaków, w tym między innymi żebrzących pod supermarketem o monety na piwo. Smutne to było mocno.
Z ogromnym bólem serca żegnaliśmy Szkocję. To była cudowna, niezapomniana podróż. Mam nadzieję, że niebawem uda nam się ją powtórzyć. Póki co zazdrościmy tym, którzy skuszeni opisami, właśnie kupują sobie lot. Miłego zwiedzania.
